Pure Death Metal! Bloodbath is like heaven (or rather hell?) to my ears. This is an 20 hour (since pre) delayed post and I can’t believe I actually missed this release by a minute since it seems I’ve been waiting forever for it. Mikael Åkerfeldt (most famous for his main project Opeth) is BACK on vocal duties in Bloodbath! This is in my opinion one of the best Death Metal acts ever. Pure old school death metal is played here and they don’t pretend to be anything else. If you haven’t yet heard of this band I STRONGLY recommend you pick up their first EP “Breeding Death” which is a work of Metal genius. A live album of their (first and only) gig at Wacken entitled “The Wacken Carnage” is also due to be released on May 19th through Peaceville.
Critically acclaimed as a “superstar line-up” death metal outfit, the band is the brainchild of Anders Nystrom (Katatonia, Diabolical Masquerade), Jonas Renkse (Katatonia, October Tide), Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity, Nightingale etc.), plus Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth). The whole project indeed was the upshot of one rip-roaring night plus intended to reinvent old school Death Metal.
