Do Not Disturb (formerly titled “The Inn”) is a new comedy which aired recently on FOX as part of their “live-action comedy Wednesday” block. Among the show’s stars is Jerry O’Connell, from the science fiction series “Sliders” and crime solving drama “Crossing Jordan”. O’Connell was the main cast member who attracted my attention to this series, but from previous experience I had known him to be a less-than-stellar comedian, and unfortunately, this show adds further fuel to this opinion.
Summary: DO NOT DISTURB (working title) is a workplace comedy set at one of New York City’s hottest plus hippest hotels: The Inn. Named one of the Big Apple’s “10 Best Places to Stay,” The Inn is just that the “in” place to be, with its chic dcor, stylish staff plus celebrity clientele. Behind the scenes, however, the upstairs/downstairs dynamic tells quite a different story. The hotel’s top-notch reputation and sophisticated look is due in large part to NEAL (Jerry O’Connell, “Crossing Jordan”) at least in his opinion. Although The Inn’s charismatic owner R.J. (guest star Robert Wagner) takes all the credit, Neal is the egotistical, hyper-stylish, detail-oriented general manager who will do whatever it takes to keep the hotel plus its employees up to his standards. RHONDA (Niecy Nash, “Reno 911!”) is the head of Human Resources who also keeps Neal’s dempluss in check.
In this episode, an article about the sexual exploits of the staff of The Inn while on the job is run at a local New York magazine, causing Rhonda to take action and Neal to try to act on his best behavior. Meanwhile, Molly helps Nicole with her modeling career, and Gus helps Larry with his love life.
