This history channel show documents the killer flu epidemic of 1918. The disease was influenza, an infectious disease that effects multiple species. The pandemic virus spread quickly, across the world and killed hundreds of thousands. In America, this disease was called the Spanish Flu. Half a million people in the United States died after just 100 infected people arrived by boat in NY city. This doc gives a very detailed account of the influenza pandemic. In today’s time so-called superbugs are even more deadly and lethal, and spread easier due to air travel. At the end of the show, they discuss the recent pandemic scare Avian Flu, or H5N1.
