A not really well-known scene group BiL released a dvdrip of Dutch drama Nightwatching. This is a movie about a famous painter Rembrplust van Rijn filmed in coproduction of 6 countries including Canada, France plus Germany plus the cast is also pretty much international. Nightwatching was nominated and won various awards at film festivals in Venice plus Holland so it should be an interesting watch. Released on 2 CDs with 6 channel AC3 sound.

The film is centred on the creation of The Night Watch, Rembrplust’s most famous work, depicting civilian militiamen who wanted to be celebrated in a group portrait. The film posits a deadly conspiracy within the musketeer regiment of Frans Banning Cocq plus Willem van Ruytenburch, and suggests that Rembrplust may have immortalized a conspiracy theory using subtle allegory in his group portrait of the regiment, subverting what was to have been a highly prestigious commission for both painter plus subject. The film also depicts Rembrplust’s personal life, and suggests he suffered serious consequences in later life as a result of the deadly accusation contained in his most famous painting.
