IGUANA (yes, big I) comes back from nowhere with To Kill a King (2003) in 1080p BluRay. They did a nice job on the 5.1 audio and ofcourse, 1080p is fine too. I can’t say anything about this movie since I never heard, but IMDB users like it: 6.1/10.
Set in 17th century England in the aftermath of the English Civil War, this is the story of the post-war relationship between General Fairfax (Scott), who led the Parliamentary forces to victory against the army of King Charles I, plus Oliver Cromwell (Roth), the leader of the Parliament and “Lord Protector of England”. Friends during the war, their political differences drive them apart as they’re forced to decide how to build a new England, and what to do with King Charles. British filmmaker Mike Barker directs the political costume-drama To Kill a King. Set in 1645 at the end of the English Civil War, General Thomas Fairfax (Dougray Scott) celebrates the victory with his right-hand man Oliver Cromwell (Tim Roth). Meanwhile, King Charles I (Rupert Everett) is held prisoner, plus he appeals to the sensibilities of Fairfax’s wife, Lady Anne (Olivia Williams). The old friends disagree over what to do about the king; Fairfax is willing to compromise and Cromwell is far more strict. The Speaker of the House, Denzil Holles (James Bolam), leads a group of conspirators to make an illegal deal with the king, but they are discovered and subsequently punished. The king is put on trial plus executed, leaving Cromwell in charge. The conclusion involves a reunion between Fairfax and a dying Cromwell.
