If you’re one of those twisted little puppies who liked the SAW series, you may find much interest in Brittish film “WAZ”. It is being advertised as “Saw meets Se7en” and that in itself is creepy. Honestly, I wouldn’t even bother with it if it had crap all-around ratings and a low-budget look oozing from the poster. But a glance at reviews shows some promise. Also, the cast isn’t bad. Synopsis: Bodies are beginning to be found in the dark city streets yet there is something horribly wrong with them. Some are mutilated while others have an equation w?z = Cov (w,z) = wzVz carved into their flesh. As Detective Eddie Argo (Stellan Skarsgrd) and his new partner (Melissa George) begin to unearth the meaning of the odd equation, they soon realise that each victim is being offered a gruesome choice: kill your loved ones or be killed yourself. Before long it becomes clear that the perpetrator has suffered just such a similar fate…so now is coping by seeking a way to solve this philosophical enigma. All the while, rape victim Jean Lerner (Selma Blair) struggles enduring the aftermath of a family tragedy; could she have some certain insight into the motivations behind these deaths?
